Thank you Mega Pile
The strength of Domino lies within community, and what a beautiful community of like-minded individuals, corporates, organisations and churches we have!
We have been blown away by the support over the past few weeks in mobilising a team to provide support and relief to the thousands of Mozambican families who's lives have been forever changed by Cyclone Idai.
Within 24 hours of sending out our email appeal, we had raised enough support, in both product & finances, to send 3 vehicles, with trailers fulled to the brim of non-perishable food items, clothing, water and hygiene stuffs to Beira, to assist a number of households at the evacuation camps spread across the region.
The team of 12 partnered with JAM International, an NPO working within Mozambique, who have been assigned to oversee 18 camps within the region. We camped at JAM's base in Beira and spent the week, of 01 April - 05 April, co-ordinating and physically distributing around 518 tonnes of food product that had been secured by the World Food Programme, an agency of The United Nations. We also spent some time in a number of the camps, connecting with survivors, distributing non-food items, praying for families and playing with some of the children that have been devastated by this disaster.
You can view a video clip of the relief hamper distributions below and check out some of the photos and clips on our facebook page and instagram account.
